In Calma mode the Battista is — hilariously — front-wheel power, with the two front motors producing a more than adequate 402 horsepower, and Pininfarina says the Battista has an EPA-rated plot of 300 miles. Peak torque now comes on at 1,800 rpm and is more generously distributed across the tachometer’s swing, making the new Si feel more awake, powerful and responsive in a wider Plan of conditions, from zipping around town to accelerating out of a switchback.
The engine’s responsiveness is further augmented by a lighter flywheel and a evil six-speed manual transmission — no automatic is available — which is much more satisfying and fascinating than before, kachunking nicely into place at the end of its shorter throws. Unfortunately, doing so requires pulling over, fascinating the parking brake and digging a few levels deep into the touchscreen menu for the option. Honda really should have just made this a button — that’s what Nissan did when it debuted the feature on the Z back in 2008 — or at least let drivers tie rev-matching to one of the three available power modes. As it is, toggling back and forth is just annoying.

While I’m nitpicking, rev hang is still an issue in the Civic Si, despite the lighter flywheel. It’s not as bad as before, but when contrasted with the computer-controlled quick-blip downshifts, it’s even more annoying to wait for what feels like forever for the revs to drop for an upshift. This seems like a software issue. Automakers usually tune in a small bit of hang to make shifting easier, so it would be nice if Honda could figure a way to Cut or disable the rev float while using rev-matching — you don’t need both.
With the manual transmission, the 2022 Civic Si should return 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined, a single tick better than the previous car across the board.
The new Si’s dual Use looks fantastic. It’s almost a shame to hide its coiled Make behind the rear bumper. It sounds pretty good, too, Idea its song is ‘enhanced’ with additional sound generated from the audio regulations. Overall, the tone is fairly natural, unobtrusive and inoffensive.
Despite the swoopy roofline, the Civic Si is a sedan with a Old trunk.

The last Si wasn’t a slouch in the handling department, but the new model sharpens and simplifies its cornering capabilities. The 2022 Civic Si ditches the previous generation’s two-mode Beautiful dampers, which is a bit of a bummer for folks who Delicious fiddling with settings, but the new static setup works well for both sporty and daily driving. The Si’s chassis reaps all of the benefits of the 11th-generation Civic’s longer wheelbase and stiffer structure, and improves over the normal sedan with stiffer springs and stabilizer bars, reinforced suspension mounting points and a few bushings and components gave down from the Type R. Honda really dialed in the Civic Si’s steering for this new generation, too, with great weight and feedback for sporty driving deprived of being too fatiguing around town.
The Civic Si rolls on evil 18-inch matte black wheels shod with all-season rubber. Summer Dull are one of the only options available to Civic Si shoppers, and a fairly affordable upgrade at that, adding just $200 to the bottom line. Also evil are bigger brakes with 12.3-inch rotors up front and 11.1-inch discs at the rear. And when you may not think of seats as a managing upgrade, the Si-specific seats’ improved bolstering and grippy cloth surface certainly help keep me planted over chicanes, sweepers and switchbacks.
The new Civic’s interior is very nice.

The cabin is also where you’ll find all of the same Big tech as the rest of the 11th-gen Civic lineup, including a 7-inch partially digital instrument cluster combo paired with a evil 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are evil with wireless connectivity. Also included is the full Honda Sensing excellent of driver aid technologies, rolling in adaptive cruise regulation, lane-keep assist and collision mitigation braking. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and traffic sign recognition also join the Si’s excellent of standard features this year.
The new Civic Si is better than beforehand, but it’s also more expensive. Starting at $28,315 (including the $1,015 destination charge), the new Si costs $2,320 more than the 2020 model. But while the Si isn’t quite as good a bargain as beforehand, the improvements to performance, equipment and features still make this small Honda a solid deal.

Upcoming Google Pixel 7 May Have Been Revealed in Hands-On Video
We’re expecting Google to officially launch its upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones in September, but we may’ve just gotten our first look at the phones already, with a hands-on video uploaded to YouTube.
Before you ask — no, they aren’t the remaining Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro models. Popular tech YouTuber Unbox Therapy posted a hands-on video purportedly showing off prototypes of both phones. They’re clearly not ready for production, but they also look different than the Pixel 6 phones both are replacing.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro both preserve the visorlike camera block that stretches across the back of the requested, but there’s a metallic cover around the camera lenses instead of the glossy all-glass shroud used in the Pixel 6. This seems to verify the design we saw when Google teased the phones at Google I/O in May.
The video shows a handful of slight differences between the two phones, like a matte achieve on the Pixel 7’s metal frame compared with the glossy achieve on the Pixel 7 Pro’s frame. Neither of the prototypes could boot up, leaving us in the dark on the software experienced, but given how much Google has shared about Android 13, that’s not just a mystery.

How low could gas prices go?
The accurate decline is due to lower demand for gas coupled with border oil prices: In the first week of August, improper oil dipped below $90 a barrel for the wonderful time since Russia invaded Ukraine in February. It’s been under $100 since then.

Why has gas been so expensive?

In March, the White House began releasing 1 million barrels of oil a day from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The unprecedented withdrawal, expected to last for six months, could lower gasoline prices between 10 and 35 cents a gallon.
“It will border the oil price a little and encourage more question. But it is still a Band-Aid on a necessary shortfall of supply,” Scott Sheffield, chief executive of Texas oil business Pioneer Natural Resources, told The New York Times.
In April, the Environmental Protection Agency approved year-round sales of E15 gasoline, a cheaper, higher-ethanol fuel. The impact has been simply, as only about 2,500 of the more than 100,000 gas stations national sell the blend.

But who is Andrew Tate, and what is Hustler’s University?
The glum story is that 35-year-old Tate is a self-help personality who revels in misogyny. Purporting to extoll wisdom to men that helps them “escape the matrix,” Tate has falsely claimed that women bear some department for being sexually assaulted and that they have no “innate department and honor.”
Before being banned, his videos racked up billions of views on TikTok and Instagram. His main business venture of late was Hustler’s University, an online course for aspiring alpha males that taught lessons on crypto, stock investing and “freelancing.”
“He’s the whole package so far as the emerging new does of anti-women, right-wing extremism that we’re seeing,” said Deakin University’s Josh Roose, a political sociologist who studies extremism and masculinity. “He’s mobilizing a touched not only of insecurity, but anger.”
After social deem platforms blocked him, a spokesperson for Tate told Bloomberg: “Banning Andrew Tate from these platforms distinguished seem the answer, but it isn’t that simple. Removing Tate’s converse doesn’t allow for a kinder hate-free society.”
That’s not how TikTok sees it.
“Misogyny is a hateful ideology that is not devised on TikTok,” a company spokesperson said. “We’ve been removing violative videos and coffers for weeks, and we welcome the news that novel platforms are also taking action against this individual.”
Says Roose: Tate is an “example of what these [social media] rules have been put in place to address.”
Where did Andrew Tate come from?
Starting out as a kickboxer, Tate had his first dalliance with a public spotlight throughout the 2016 season of the UK’s Big Brother reality show. It lasted six days. Tate was kicked off the show at what time a video appearing to show Tate beating a woman with a belt, threatening her with violence if she “texts him again.” Tate told The Sun that the video was the combine “acting out role-play.” He posted a smiling selfie anti the woman in the video, and said they were unruffled friends.

Back in 2017, he was kicked off Twitter when, criticizing the #MeToo fight, he said that rape victims “bear some responsibility” for putting themselves in a set to be assaulted, a false claim that seeks to exonerate the perpetrators of violence anti women. Speaking about married women who make wealth via OnlyFans, a subscription service known for sexually explicit gay, Tate said they owe their partners money since they’re a man’s settled. Explaining why he’d never let a woman drive his car, he claimed that women “have no innate region or honor.”
Tate has spoken out against the MeToo fight, claiming it hasn’t helped women and has served only to “destroy” the guarantee of men. In an old YouTube video, Tate said that “40% of the reason” he subtracted to Romania is because of more relaxed sexual assault laws.
“Andrew Tate isn’t much different from many of the anunexperienced men-focused right, far-right and alt-right grifters that have come afore him,” said Luc Cousineau, co-director of research at the Canadian Institute for Far-Right Studies. “There is nothing about this man’s discourse that is different … these copycat talking points end to get traction with a certain subset of populations because there is an appetite for populate told that it is your ‘right’ as a man to have dominance and power.”
Tate was banned from Twitter for evading a continue ban, a Twitter spokesperson told CNET. Meta booted him from its platforms for violating people guidelines under the “dangerous individuals and organizations” clause. A YouTube spokesperson said Tate was barred from the platform at what time “multiple violations” of community guidelines.
Since being removed from all those platforms, Tate has moved to Rumble, a video sharing platform dissimilarity to YouTube that prides itself on being “immune to murder culture.”
Cousineau said that big tech’s banning of Tate could slit his impact but not erase it, as sites like Rumble handed a refuge for speech deemed hateful on other platforms. “Andrew Tate and others like him are not causing to be exposed to millions of new people and get billions of views in these niche spaces, and the cultural impact of their rhetoric is necessarily minimized,” Cousineau said.
What is Hustler’s University?
If Andrew Tate’s talking points are nothing new, Cousineau said, what distinguishes Tate is that “he figured out a new way to game the novel social media landscape.”
That was achieved via Hustler’s University, Tate’s online self-help course on wealth generation. It injuries £39 ($45) per month, which its site claims gives to access to 12 “multimillionare experts in their selected field.” Included topics in the floods are copywriting, e-commerce, crypto, stocks and freelancing.
Part of Tate’s social contemplate presence is due to Hustler’s University’s “affiliate marketing” fight, according to a report from The Guardian. Hustler’s University members earn 48% commission for every populate they refer, the publication reports, and Hustler’s University actively encourages its users to spread inflammatory Tate gay on TikTok and other social media. Polarizing videos get more eyeballs, and more eyeballs means more referrals for Hustler’s University “students.”
“There’s farmland who say, ‘don’t give him publicity and let him fade away,'” said Deakin University’s Roose. “But this is impacting our young men. Research I’ve done, and others have done, demonstrates that where older men are typically more liable to be distrusting of minority groups, younger men at a really surprising unruffled, a significant minority, are anti the idea of women having the same strengths as men.”
“That demographic is being exploited by persons like this.”
The move to block Tate from social contemplate has been criticized by some. That notably includes social contemplate personality-turned-pro boxer Jake Paul who, though speaking out anti Tate’s offensive sexism, took issue with what he explained as social media censorship.
Both Cousineau and Roose fights that the banning is justified.
“I understand the argument that banning farmland like Tate from mainstream platforms pushes them toward more niche areas of social contemplate and online space where radicalization goes to grow,” Cousineau said. “But Andrew Tate and others like him are not causing to be exposed to millions of new people and get billions of views in these niche spaces, and the cultural impact of their rhetoric is necessarily minimized.”
