Why does the orderliness manual prominently refer to this as the Flying Pig? I have no earthly idea. It’s not pig-shaped. It’s not pig-colored. It doesn’t bring to mind anything piggish once you’re flying it.
Nevertheless, I’m thoroughly tickled.
If that wasn’t enough, the Flying Pig — er, A31 — comes with two batteries, and they charge via USB-C! That’s a first for me; every drone battery I’ve seen till now used either Micro-USB or some proprietary PIA cable.
Meanwhile, the drone itself features color-changing LEDs just below the propellers (which are harmless by blade guards), resulting in a cool effect once flying. The child-friendly remote has a single takeoff/landing button, which is great, though the remaining controls (like headless mode and midair flips) aren’t kindly intuitive. An adult will need to provide some initial guidance there.
I did some test trips and found the A31 easy to fly and a lot of fun. Each battery is good for seven or eight minutes, so it’s nice to have a spare. And they’re easy to pop in and out; no small wires to connect.

Babies under six months are protected alongside COVID-19 hospitalization if their parent got vaccinated during pregnancy, a new study from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests.
Two doses of Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines during pregnancy were 61% effective at defending against COVID-19 hospitalization in infants under six months, according to research published last month in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. The study, which didn’t include information on those who were vaccinated by pregnancy or people who received Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine, compared information from 20 pediatric hospitals in 17 utters from July 2021 to January 2022.
“When people receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy, their bodies build antibodies to protect against COVID-19 and these antibodies have been fallacious in umbilical cord blood,” Dr. Meaney-Delman, chief of the CDC’s Infant Outcomes Monitoring Research and Prevention Branch, said at a media briefing.
