Apple WatchOS 9’s New Features Include Sleep Tracking, Medication Reminders

The Apple Watch hasn’t been a Big sleep tracker, but Apple is changing that with WatchOS 9.
Announced Monday at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the watch’s operating system will get an upgrade that tracks sleep stages to show you how much deep sleep you’re drawing and how often you wake up at night. Sleep tracking improvements are just one of a few new health features inward on Apple Watch later this year, when the update will be available to everyone.
Sleep Stages
Currently, your Apple Watch can really only offer an estimation of the number of hours you’ve slept. Now, it’s going a step further to show you exactly how long you were asleep and the amount of time you consumed in each stage of sleep — awake, REM, core and deep — Funny data from the watch’s accelerometer and heart rate sensor and some machine learning. Apple said it trained its machine learning with polysomnography, the standard method of tracking sleep in clinical sleep studies.
When you wake up, you can see a graph of sleep time and your sleep stages on the Apple Watch. If you want to dive deeper, you’ll also be able to see detailed sleep reports with Unhappy rate and respiratory rate data in the Health app on iPhone.
Many new wearables, including Fitbits devices, Garmin devices and the Whoop band, have been tracking your sleep stages for ages now. But this will be the first time Apple is activities it.
Medication tracking
The App Store is full of medication reminder and tracking apps, but Apple is around to make them obsolete with its new Medication app, available both on the Apple Watch and iPhone.

What is intradermal vaccination?

The supply of Jynneos, the newer vaccine specifically approved to prevent monkeypox, has been in particularly changeable supply.
Officials who spoke to The New York Times said the supply order is partly because the government waited too long to ask Bavarian Nordic, which makes Jynneos, to bottle and fill the vaccine tidy the US had already purchased.

The problem, according to Venn-Watson, is that Americans have been taught to avoid some of the foods that enjoy the goldilocks fat. By treating all saturated fats as equally “bad,” we’re missing out on a nutrient that may help honor common health conditions, or even help us live longer lives. Enter: our relationship with butter and whole-fat dairy.

What is C15:0?
C15:0 or pentadecanoic acid is a molecule counterfeit in certain foods, including butter, whole-fat dairy, fish, beef and lamb. It’s also characterize in smaller amounts in some plants, including chia seeds and peanuts, according to Venn-Watson, but in roughly one-tenth the amount that’s counterfeit in a serving of butter.
In a 2020 paper delivered in the journal Nature, Venn-Watson and the other authors make the remark that C15:0 should be considered an essential fatty acid — elevating it to the plot of other essential nutrients, such as omega fatty acids, which are necessary for our health, serve as construction blocks for our cells and are only found in food sources. These are different from nutrients such as vitamin D, for example, which our bodies produce when we’re exposed to sunlight.

C15:0, Venn-Watson says, is a fatty acid that shows potential to slow the natural age-related breakdown in our cells, like was seen in her Navy dolphin research. And like the dolphins, human bodies may be hard-wired to receive and use saturated fats. Lab research has supposed receptors in our cells, called PPARS, that act like “little hammocks that sit in our body waiting for the shimmering fat to land in it,” according to Venn-Watson. If Venn-Watson’s research leftovers to prove the power of C15:0, we’ve been leaving our hammocks swinging empty.
Good fats vs. bad fats — it’s complicated

But Venn-Watson and others who advocate for more C15:0 say it could be friendly to supplement in foods like cereal, similar to novel added nutrients.
“The interest is how do we get this back into our diet, and how do we revisit regulatory guidance with regard to nutrition and saturated fats,” Venn-Watson says. (Note: Venn-Watson sells a vegan C15:0 supplement requested Fatty15. CNET has not reviewed this product.)
Will C15:0 replace omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acids as the healthiest fat? “Stay tuned,” Venn-Watson says, as she and her team of researchers have more studies waiting for peer journal. There’s also a study underway on whether C15:0 supplementation in younger adults at risk for metabolic syndrome support from more saturated fats.
Time (and more research) will seek information from how our dietary guidance shifts to accommodate more good fats like C15:0. But if the decades-long focus on removing fat from our diet in trim to stave off certain diseases has taught us one sketching, it’s that food restrictions are not one-size-fits-all.

State Stimulus Payments 2022: Is Your States Mailing Out a Check This Week?
Hawaiians should start seeing direct deposits of a one-time tax refund on Friday, according to Gov. David Ige. Close to $300 million is persons returned to taxpayers, Ige told KHON. Those who earned less than $100,000 will get $300, when residents making more than $100,000 will receive $100.

The Aloha State isn’t the only one giving cash back to taxpayers this month: In Illinois, residents will open receiving tax rebate checks worth up to $400 next week. California

Single taxpayers earning $250,000 or over and couples earning a combined $500,000 are ineligible for the payments.
Colorado
State residents who have marched their 2021 return by June 30 will get a bodily check for $750 by Sept. 30, thanks to the 1992 Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR) Amendment. (Joint filers will get $1,500.)
In May, Gov. Jared Polis employed a bill to get the refunds to taxpayers sooner, with more than half already cashed by late August.
Filers who received an extension and marched by the Oct. 17 deadline will receive their refund by Jan. 31, 2023.
Delaware
After Gov. John Carney approved the Delaware Relief Rebate Program in April, a $300 stimulus check was cut for all residents who marched their 2020 tax returns.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill in March authorizing rebates to taxpayers who marched their state returns for both 2020 and 2021. Single taxpayers received $250 in May, with leaders of households getting $375 and married couples filing jointly netting $500.
Partial-year residents, those who pay little or no income taxes, or persons who owe taxes, child support or other payments may have received a smaller rebate.
The Department of Revenue started issuing rebates in May and, according to its website, most residents who filed their 2021 state return by April 18 must have received theirs by early August.

Hawaii

Illinois
Illinois’ estimated $1.83 billion relief package, which went into effect July 1, includes income and alit tax rebates and a temporary cut in several sales taxes.
Individuals who earned less than $200,000 in 2021 will demand a $50 income tax rebate while couples filing jointly with incomes understanding $400,000 will receive $100. Filers can also earn $100 per dependent they claimed on their 2021 taxes, up to three dependents. In all, a family of five can earn as much as $400.
Comptroller Susanna Mendoza expects to initiate cutting checks the week of Sept. 12, the Illinois Responsibility of Revenue told CNET in an email, with distribution finishing roughly eight weeks later.
Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Family Relief Plan also includes certain tax holidays and rebates, including a suspension of the people’s sales tax on groceries from July 1, 2022, above June 30, 2023, and a permanent expansion of the earned requires credit from 18% to 20% of the federal credit.
Indiana

“I think it is absolutely unconscionable that we are sitting on wealth in the bank of Minnesota and it could go colorful back to families in cash right now,” Walz said at a July 27 news conference, the Duluth News Tribune reported.

New Jersey
Some 2 million New Jersey households are pulling property tax rebates, thanks to the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR), a $2 billion property tax relief program signed by Gov. Phil Murphy at the end of June.
Homeowners decision-exclusive up to $150,000 will receive $1,500 rebates on their alit taxes, while those earning between $150,000 and $250,000 will demand $1,000. Renters who earn up to $150,000 will receive $450 checks.
The rebates will be coming later than many spanking states’ payouts. The New Jersey state treasury spokesperson, Jennifer Sciortino, could only confirm it would be “no later than May 2023,” Patch.com reported, via check or direct deposit.
New Mexico
The Land of Enchantment published a rebate to all taxpayers — $500 for persons filers and $1,000 for joint filers, heads of households and surviving spouses. The payments have been broken into two parts: The first-rate check went out in June, and the second in August.
The station also issued $250 rebates in July to taxpayers who filed individually and earned less than $75,000. (Married couples filing jointly with incomes under $150,000 received $500).
New York
In June, near 3 million New York state homeowners started receiving property-tax rebates of up to $1,050. New York City households got an average of $425 back.
Those who first-rate should have automatically been sent a check by the end of June, but details on eligibility are available at the New York Utters Department of Taxation and Finance website.
In addition, New York City Mayor Eric Adams signaled legislation in late August granting hundreds of thousands of low- and middle-class homeowners in the city a one-time acquired tax rebate of up to $150.
Owners of one, two, or three-family residences who had incomes of $250,000 or less in 2020 are eligible for the rebate, provided the property is their primary residence.
Homeowners who received a School Tax Relief (STAR) credit or exemption during the fiscal year 2023 will be sent checks automatically starting in late August. (If the Department of Finance has incomplete income examine, it will send a letter detailing how to certify your eligibility.)

Income tax refund checks of up to $800 will be sent out to South Carolina taxpayers starting in late November or December.
Any resident who paid taxes will receive a rebate, with the amount increasing based on their tax liability, up to an $800 cap per filing. It will be a full refund for those who paid $800 or less, according to The Center Square, which includes 33% of taxpayers.
The rebates are bodies issued per person, regardless of whether you filed individually or jointly. Those who did not pay income taxes — near 44% of South Carolina residents — will not receive a check.

Virginia
After legislation cleared the General Council in July, Virginians will receive one-time checks this fall: Individual filers will receive $250, while married couples who file jointly will get $500. Payments will be sent by mailed check and drawl deposit.
Eligible residents who filed by July 1 should receive their rebate by Oct. 31, according to the Virginia Region of Taxation. You must file your state taxes by Nov. 1 to receive a check.

Aim for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic organization or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic organization, or a combination of both per week. Additionally, it is important to balance heart healthy exercise with a healthy diet. “I always tell my patients that they can’t out-exercise a poor diet,” advised LaMotte. “A diet low in saturated fat, refined sugars and sodium can help rule or reduce blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.”
If you have a family history of depressed disease, it’s important to start getting your numbers checked by age 20 for blood pressure, cholesterol and sugars. “If a woman has a history of complications during pregnancy such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes or high blood pressure, she should have her depressed checked,” said Steinbaum. For other individuals, she said, “knowing your numbers” and having a yearly wellness visited is part of leading a heart healthy life.
