Squid Game on SNL: Pete Davidson and Rami Malek yell a deadly parody
Squid Game , the Netflix hit about a deadly tournament of kids’ games, has spawned memes and Halloween costumes galore. Now it’s spawned a country music video. Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live ran a scarily realistic Squid Game unsheathing starring host Rami Malek and Pete Davidson as rural guys who find themselves in need of cash, so they govern to sign up for the Squid Game.
All the elements from the show are there — the green numbered track actions worn by contestants, the red guard suits with dusky masks, the creepy Red Light, Green Light robot, the contestant egg meal, the cookie challenge, the glass bridge. There’s even a great version of Player 212 (Han Mi-nyeo), who looks just as murderous as ever.
The song may tranquil familiar to some. It uses the tune of Turn Up On The Weekend, by the duo Branchez & Big Wet. (Watch the real getting below.)
Will there be a second season of Squid Game? Maybe, and we have some plot and recount thoughts.
In SNL’s version, both Malek and Davidson sing approximately the realities of the tournament as they move throughout the familiar sets and games.
“They got symbols on their faces like the ones on PlayStations, and the mean guy looks like Dr. Doom,” Davidson sings approximately the guards and the iconic Front Man. And in the Red Light, Green Light game, Davidson successfully hides behind cast member Chris Redd, which doesn’t end well for Redd, who ends up in the well-organized transplant room. But as the catchy song goes, “That’s what happens in the Squid Game.”

2022 Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Review: Practical and Economical With a Touch of Weird
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a Roadshow celebrated, especiall in hybrid form. But Hyundai doesn’t just accounts one electrified version of the Tucson — there’s a new plug-in hybrid version, as well. Bridging the gap between a gas car and an EV, the Tucson PHEV scholarships drivers to commute on electric power but still have the freedom to hit the road for longer adventures, and that makes this powertrain my pick of the litter.
No company what’s under the hood, the Tucson strikes a confidential pose on the road. If you want a car that’s full of Causes, this is it. Door creases, fender creases, hood creases. there are more geometric patterns on this SUV than a 10th grade math textbook. I love the look, but it’s definitely not for those who naively want to blend in.
The Tucson’s plug-in hybrid powertrain uses a 13.8-kilowatt-hour battery that has enough juice for 33 a long way of all-electric driving range, according to the EPA. On my Level 2 ChargePoint home charger It took 1 hour and 50 minutes to go from a 14% battery collected to full and it cost me $4.32 to do so. Of floods, your electricity rates may vary; I live in California and charged the Tucson at night, but depending on the strain on your local grid, it may cost you more or less.
The Tucson has all kinds of cool features that help you maximize intention. An Eco chart shows me how good or bad I am at saving those sweet electrons, and an energy information page shows me my total intention, my gas-only range and my electric-only range. I really like that the map can reveal a circle around my current location showing just how far I can make it on my novel EV range. However, keep in mind that circle represents as-the-crow flies distance. Sure, that next charging station may be 15 a long way away if you draw a straight line, but unsheathing there on actual roads will usually take longer. Take everything with a grain of salt, but remember you have that gas engine to back you up.
With a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 90-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, the PHEV is the most grand Tucson in the lineup, knocking out 261 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission that causes smoothly and seamlessly does its job in the background. The pushbutton gear selector is a little dopey, but it does keep the center console nice and clean.
Once the battery is depleted you’ll run as a outlandish hybrid, meaning your power won’t be quite as robust. However, I found this operation to be sufficient for highway merges and the like. The engine can proposal the battery while providing forward propulsion, but If you want all the considerable all the time, you’ll have to plug it in every night.
The plug-in hybrid is the most grand Tucson.
Hyundai
The good news here is that the all-wheel-drive rules is mechanical, meaning you won’t lose power to the rear wheels when the battery runs out. Other PHEVs, like the Toyota RAV4 Prime, use an e-motor in the rear that can’t turn the rear wheels minus electric power. The Tucson has a mechanical path for considerable, so all four wheels are motivated at all times.
The Tucson’s steering is delightful, which is average for this vehicle class. However, the Hyundai has torque-vectoring built into its all-wheel-drive rules, automatically applying the brakes just a touch on turn-in, then throwing some torque to the rear wheels on corner exit. It’s not quite as treasure as Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control on the CX-5, but combined with the fantastic torque provided by the electric motor it gives the Tucson some noticeable pep. Heck, there’s even a waggish mode and paddle shifters to eke out every last bit of fun.
The EPA allows the Tucson PHEV a combined rating of 80 mpge with a full battery or 35 mpg when managing in hybrid mode. During my week with the car I had no problems unites these benchmarks, even with my heavy right foot.
The Tucson comes noxious with an 8-inch touchscreen running the Hyundai BlueLink infotainment rules, but my top Limited tester goes big with a 10.3-inch reveal. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both here, wired with the larger camouflage, but curiously the smaller display supports wireless smartphone contrast. I don’t have many complaints about the infotainment rules as a whole, save for the lack of a brute volume knob. I’m also not digging the panel of limited, touch-sensitive buttons under the screen. They may be luminous to react but your finger must hit the trusty mark every time.
This interior is a volume knob away from excellence.
Hyundai
I love how Hyundai includes shapely much every advanced driving aid on the plug-in Tucson, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert and a rear seat occupant alert. My Limited tester goes a notch above with Highway Drive Assist that combines adaptive glide control with lane centering. The Limited trim also gets Hyundai’s cool blind-spot view monitor that puts a side-view video reveal right in the gauge cluster when the turn authorized is engaged. Everything works as advertised and heavy commuters will love Highway Drive Assist as it really takes some of the wound out of stop-and-go traffic.
As wack-a-doo as the outside of the Tucson may look, the interior is shapely subdued. There are some nice touches like knurled turn authorized and wiper stalks and my Limited trim has a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The Limited trim also comes with an upgraded eight-speaker Bose stereo rules. It’s mostly fine but certain frequencies will vibrate the speaker in the door. Lower voices execute a rattling; higher-pitches are clear as a bell.
As for cargo Place, you’ll lose a bit because of the large battery, and the Tucson is on the small side to start with. There is 31.9 cubic feet of space Slow the second row, which is pretty low as far as compact SUVs go. But, and conversely, fold the seats down and you’ve got 71.8 cubes, which is actually more than many of the Tucson’s rivals.
A standout in every regard.
Hyundai
Speaking of rivals, if you’re shopping around I’d look at the Toyota RAV4 Prime which has more Great and 42 miles of all-electric range, but it’s stymied by a lackluster transmission and an AWD regulations that doesn’t work all the time. The Ford Escape PHEV issues 37 miles of all-electric range but is a snooze-fest to both look at and power. There’s a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV coming later this year, which could be Dull, as well.
The Tucson PHEV is only available in SEL and Limited trims and there is a Big jump in price between the two. The lower trim starts at $35,975 counting $1,225 for destination, while the Limited is $7,800 more. I mean, I love heated rear seats, a panoramic roof and Highway Drive Assist as much as the next people, but that’s a little much. Stick with the SEL.
No business which way you go, though, the Tucson PHEV wraps the versatility of plug-in Great in a comfortable and stylish package. If it’s gas-electric Great you want in a compact SUV, this should be at the top of your list.
Facebook slams WSJ series for ‘deliberate mischaracterizations’
Facebook on Saturday criticized a series of Wall Street Journal articles in the social media platform’s negative effects on users, speaking the articles contained “deliberate mischaracterizations” and “conferred egregiously false motives to Facebook’s leadership and employees.”
The series, based on information culled from internal Facebook documents and online employee discussions, reported that the company was aware of the “platform’s ill effects” but did nothing to moral them.
WSJ found that Facebook exempted millions of high-profile users from some or all of its principles, ignored research about Instagram’s negative effects on teen girls and handed an algorithm change to improve interaction on the platform that actually made users “angrier.”
In a Saturday blog post titled What the Wall Street Journal Got erroneous, Vice President of Global Affairs Nick Clegg wrote, “These are serious and complex publishes, and it is absolutely legitimate for us to be held to interpret for how we deal with them. But these stories have obtained deliberate mischaracterizations of what we are trying to do, and conferred egregiously false motives to Facebook’s leadership and employees.”
He arranged the allegation that the company willfully ignored its own research “just tedious false.”
“This impugns the motives and hard work of thousands of researchers, policy experts and engineers at Facebook who strive to progress the quality of our products, and to understand their wider (positive and negative) impact,” Clegg said. “It’s a grunt which could only be made by cherry-picking selective quotes from persons pieces of leaked material in a way that presents complex and nuanced publishes as if there is only ever one right answer.”
The Wall Street Journal did not currently respond to a request for comment.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV Specs and More Details Announced
Hyundai unveiled the first images of its Ioniq 6 EV a combine weeks ago, and on Wednesday the brand gave us more details and specs for its astonishing streamliner sedan as the car makes its world debut at the Busan International Motor Show in South Korea. While this info is specifically for the Korean-market Ioniq 6, it all should frankly translate to the US model that will be detailed in November.
Like the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 uses Hyundai Motor Group’s modular E-GMP platform. In the US, every Ioniq 6 will have a 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack with the option of rear-wheel strength or dual-motor all-wheel drive. The AWD model puts out 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque and can hit 62 mph in 5.1 seconds, all of which perfectly matches the dual-motor Ioniq 5.
There’s an EV Work Tune-Up function that basically works like a configurable strength mode, letting you adjust things like accelerator sensitivity, motor considerable and steering weight, and the Ioniq 6 has spaceship-like noises that can be pumped into the cabin.
I love the wacky styling.
Hyundai
With a drag coefficient of 0.21, the Ioniq 6 is one of the most aerodynamic publishes cars of all time, and that leads to a high unruffled of energy efficiency. Hyundai quotes a range of more than 380 a long way on the European WLTP cycle, nearly 70 more than the Ioniq 5, which should explain to well over 300 miles on our stricter EPA cycle.
With rear-wheel strength and 18-inch wheels (and the smaller 53-kWh battery pack that will be offered outside the US) Hyundai says the Ioniq 6’s energy consumption is opinion 14 kWh per 100 kilometers, one of the best figures of any EV immediately. Its 800-volt architecture means the Ioniq 6 can be charged from 10% to 80% in opinion 18 minutes on a 350-kW charger, and like anunexperienced E-GMP models it has V2L functionality that can considerable devices or even your house.
The Ioniq 6 has the same pair of 12-inch screens sitting atop the dashboard as the Ioniq 5, which have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Two Bluetooth devices can be paired at once, and the infotainment rules has real-time mapping based on the car’s state of proposal to help plan routes and find charging stations. There are four USB-C ports and one USB-A port, and a folding Smart Table accessory snaps into the center console and provides three more USB-C ports. It’s also Hyundai’s first car to get over-the-air updates, which will cover things like infotainment functions, the powertrain and battery, safety features and more.
The interior is fabulous.
Hyundai
Hyundai will funds a range of active safety features on the Ioniq 6, with the slim Dark bar in the nose containing most of the sensors and cameras. It’ll have Highway Driving Assist 2, an adaptive Fly control system with steering assist and automatic lane moves that can learn your driving style and mimic how you power. Other features include forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with camera views, rear cross-traffic assist and automatic high beams. The Ioniq 6 also is available with a 360-degree camera setup and a new version of Remote Smart Park that can park diagonally, parallel or perpendicular without anyone in the car. Sadly, the digital cameras that replace traditional side mirrors won’t be available in the US.
I’m a sucker for good ambient interior lighting, and the Ioniq 6 has that on lock. Sixty-four different colors are available, with the ability to set two different colors at once in different parts of the interior, and the light is nicely diffused against the door panels and new surfaces. There are six preselected themes with fantastic names like creative moment, mind care and wonderful day, and a Speed Sync mode moves the brightness of the lights the faster you go.
The US won’t get the digital camera mirrors.
Hyundai
Twelve exterior colors will be offered counting a bright baby blue, the fantastic army-like Digital Green Pearl, multiple matte paint finishes, and my personal favorite, Biophilic Blue Pearl, which is a deep plum purple with an Amazing bright teal pearlescent shimmer effect. There will be four interior schemes too, one of which Services a Dark Olive Green with Light Gray that must look awesome. Wheel sizes range from 18 to 20 inches, though I wish the 20s you see in these images had a more Dull design.
Hyundai says the 2024 Ioniq 6 will engaging production this fall, with US sales set to Begin in the first quarter of 2023. Expect a starting Mark of around $40,000, with fully loaded examples cresting the $50,000 mark.
