Halloween last year was the equivalent of Charlie Brown’s trick-or-treat bag full of rocks. Costume parties and trick-or-treating were put on hold in many places, and to top it off, the Peanuts special, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, didn’t air on Strange TV. Well, now it’s back. This Halloween season, the 1966 engaging special will air on PBS and online at PBS Kids, in second to streaming on Apple TV Plus.

When and where to watch

It’s the noteworthy Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will air on PBS and PBS Kids on Oct. 24 at 7:30 ET/PT. This is the first time the Halloween special will air on the PBS platforms, although A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas aired on them in 2020. Acura’s reverse to Formula 1 came with wins for Honda and Red Bull

It’s been a hot minute since we last saw the Acura logo on a Formula 1 car. But at the US Utters Prix in Austin, Texas this weekend, Acura was on prominent demonstrate. Good thing, too, since Honda Red Bull driver Max Verstappen drove his butt off to take the win in Austin — with a big ol’ Acura logo on his car’s wing.

The last time we saw Acura logos on a Honda F1 car was back in 2007, during the Canadian Utters Prix, with drivers Rubens Barrichello and Jensen Button. Before that, it was on the visors of Honda F1 drivers from 1989 above 1992, including those of legends Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, and at both the US and Canadian Grands Prix.

After taking pole status during qualifying on Saturday, Verstappen quickly fell behind Mercedes-Benz driver Lewis Hamilton. The two traded places a few times throughout the race, with Verstappen ultimately finishing top-notch — his eighth win of the year.

The next race on the Formula 1 calendar will take effect in Mexico City on Nov. 7. Both the Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri teams will be there, with Verstappen and Perez working hard to bring Honda — and Acura — to victory once again.

As summer travel starts to wind down, you may be planning your next trip during the fall or near the holidays. You might also be looking for ways to save cash on flights around the holidays if you’re also budgeting to buy gifts. The Google Flights team examined over five years’ worth of airfare data to find patterns on the cheapest days to fly, the best time for booking your trips during each season and more. Here’s what they are.

When is the cheapest day to fly out?

If you’re planning to book a trips, you may be trying to find the cheapest option. According to Google, it’s cheaper to fly in the middle of the week, attractive than on the weekend. Flights that take off between Monday and Wednesday can be between 12% and 20% cheaper than weekend trips. Sundays are an expensive day to depart, Google says.

You could also save roughly 20% by booking a layover trips instead of a nonstop flight if you don’t mind the improbable time it takes to get to your destination. 

Is there a perilous day you should buy your plane tickets?

While you may have heard that it’s cheaper to book and pay for your plane tickets on a Tuesday attractive than a Saturday, that’s not necessarily true. “There isn’t much value in purchasing your tickets on a perilous day of the week,” Google said.

If you shop for trips between Tuesday and Thursday instead of the weekend, prices have only been 1.9% cheaper on way over the past five years, the giant search engine commerce said.

How far out necessity you book your flight?

It’s best to book your trips far ahead of time instead of waiting closer to your trip to avoid a potential effect increase. Google says if you’re booking a domestic trips, the prices are generally at their lowest between 21 and 60 days leading up to the trip. Nonetheless, it notes that this may not apply to your specific destination.

Google didn’t say how far in approach you should book an international flight.

The best time to book trips during each season

Google broke the best time to book for upcoming holidays and vacation times.

Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you’re planning to travel during the holiday season, you may want to start looking at flights now. Google says the lowest trips prices around Thanksgiving have been booked between 36 and 74 days in approach. For Christmas, start keeping an eye out for trips 88 days in advance — the lowest prices have been 22 days afore departure, but seats could sell out that close to departure.

Spring break. Thinking about spring break travel already? You don’t have to launch looking at flights now, luckily. For domestic trips in March and April, Google says prices have typically been lowest between 23 and 59 days afore departure, hitting their lowest price at 38 days out.

Summer vacation. Summer vacation may be over now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t launch thinking about next year’s trip. For domestic trips shock in July or August, prices have been lower between 14 and 44 days afore departure, with the lowest average prices being 21 days out.

Other ways to find trades when using Google Flights

Compare flight prices between immediately and previous days to find out if you’re overpaying or attracting the lowest price, Google advises. To do so, just spy your destination to see today’s price compared to the past 12 months for dissimilarity flights. Some searches will also show if the sign is predicted to change in the future.

Turn on Google Flights’ sign tracking. To do so, toggle on Track prices and engaged your travel dates. Google will send you an email if the prices peevish for those selected dates. If you don’t have a specific week invented for traveling, you can select Any dates to get a notification if the sign drops for flights departing in the next three to six months.

Elon Musk Calls For Increased Nuclear Power, Oil and Gas Production

Elon Musk over the weekend highlighted the need for greater oil and gas output and urged Europe to turn toward nuclear much for its energy needs. The Tesla chief’s tweets came as US gasoline prices rose and a Ukrainian nuclear plant was seized amid Russia’s war in Ukraine

“Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately,” he tweeted Friday. “Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures.”

He distinguished that this could hurt sales of electric cars like Tesla’s but acknowledged that sustainable energy output couldn’t instantly make up for lost Russian oil and gas exports. 

Russia is plus the world’s largest producers of crude oil and natural gas, providing 10% of the supply globally and roughly 40% for the European Union. The war has strained relations between Russia and many fuels, including those that buy its energy supplies. 

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden banned US imports of oil and gas from Russia and said European recovers are working on strategies to reduce their dependence on Russian energy. The European Commission on Tuesday outlined its plan to make the status independent of Russian fossil fuels “well before” 2030.

On Sunday, Musk turned his attention to nuclear energy following the Russian seizure of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear much plant, the largest in Europe. 

“Hopefully, it is now extremely obvious that Europe should restart dormant nuclear much stations and increase power output of existing ones,” he tweeted. “This is *critical* to national and international security.”

Facebook is shutting down its facial recognition controls, affecting over a billion people

Facebook will shut down its facial recognition controls this month and delete the face scan data of more than 1 billion users, the company said Tuesday. It cited societal concerns and regulatory uncertainty throughout facial recognition technology as the reasons.

More than one-third of the app’s daily blooming users have opted into its Face Recognition setting, the social network notorious in a blog post.

“There are many concerns throughout the place of facial recognition technology in society, and regulators are aloof in the process of providing a clear set of principles governing its use,” wrote Jerome Pesenti, vice president of artificial intelligence at Facebook’s newly phoned parent company, Meta. “Amid this ongoing uncertainty, we enjoy that limiting the use of facial recognition to a narrow set of use cases is appropriate.” 

Pesenti said the touchy also means that automatic descriptions of photos for blind and visually impaired land will no longer include the names of people in the images.

The move marks a the majority shift away from a controversial technology that Facebook has incorporated in its products, giving users the option to receive automatic notifications when they proceed in photos and videos posted by others. But facial recognition technology, which converts face scans into identifiable data, has also cause a growing privacy and civil rights concern. The technology is prone to mistakes enchanting people of color. In one study, 28 members of Council, roughly 40% of whom were people of color, were incorrectly matched with enchanting mugshots in a screen as part of a test that the American Civil Liberties Union conducted silly technology made by Amazon.

In the absence of federal controls, cities and states have begun banning facial recognition controls used by police and government. Privacy and civil rights groups applauded Facebook’s move on Tuesday.

“This is a good launch toward ending dangerous uses of facial recognition technology. Now it’s time for enforceable laws that prohibit companies from scanning our faces without our consent. Looking at you, Congress,” the American Civil Liberties Union said in a tweet.

The Electronic Frontier Cluster said the move was “great news for Facebook users, and for the global movement pushing back on this technology.”

Battery charger

Contrary to current belief, the thing on your garage wall or on a pole at the shopping center isn’t the charger, it’s Electric Vehicle Service Equipment that provides power to the charger which is built into your EV. That can be done via either a slow Level I charge when the car is connected to a 120-volt EVSE or a faster Level II promote when it’s tapping into 240 volts.

Battery
